Pace Road Shops Carpark Refresh
Weekly Project update here:
We are happy to announce that the Car Park is open for use. The new public space in front of the Cafe and Hairdressers will remain closed, for a short time only, to finish the little bit of concrete and paving still to do. A huge thank you to our wonderful businesses for their patience and understanding to get the upgrade done.

THECARPARK UPGRADE PROJECT - Whats happening.
Pace Road carpark is getting a refresh in early 2024. This will protect the trees while making the area safe, connected, and more sustainable.
The refresh includes:
- Redesigning the bays to maximise layout and protect the trees
- Improving traffic flow and safety for all vehicles and pedestrians
- Connected pathways, new paving, crosswalks, and median strips
- Easily accessible ACROD parking
- Seating & bike racks
- A new community space
Below is the Carpark Concept Design.
A detailed drawing is available on the City of Kwinana website. Once the City has awarded the tender for the works we will share the timeline with you.
The refresh includes the addition of an exciting, NEW community space: the Koort of Medina. A collaboration with the Medina Residents’ Group, the space will provide a comfortable, connected, and inclusive place, in the very heart of Medina.

Construction work for the carpark starts 8 April
Share Construction work for the carpark starts 8 April on Facebook Share Construction work for the carpark starts 8 April on Twitter Share Construction work for the carpark starts 8 April on Linkedin Email Construction work for the carpark starts 8 April linkWork to upgrade the carpark will start Monday, 8 April and continue for approximately 12 weeks. While the work is being completed, temporary fencing will be put up to enclose the car park and part of the Medina Green. Footpath access to shops will remain, however, there is a requirement to close the footpath for a very short time during the work while the footpath is resurfaced. There will be some disruption to businesses and the City will work closely with owners to navigate this. An updated timeline will be posted on Love My Kwinana once the construction company has started. The Decals (pictured below) have been stuck to the path to advise everyone of the work being done. The QR code takes people to this page.
The car park was built in the 1950s and needs work to make it safe, accessible and ensure the longevity of the trees. The City is investing over $700,000 to upgrade this important neighbourhood center. If you have a question that is not answered in our FAQ's you are welcome to contact the team at the City, our contact details are in the righthand column of this page.

Mural Refresh - The Old Post Office
Share Mural Refresh - The Old Post Office on Facebook Share Mural Refresh - The Old Post Office on Twitter Share Mural Refresh - The Old Post Office on Linkedin Email Mural Refresh - The Old Post Office linkThe City understands that the community would like to see the artwork on the wall of the old Post Office refreshed with something new. For us to make sure we get the best outcome, we would like to first hear your ideas for the type of visuals you would like to see here. This wall will be documented and painted with a fresh base coat during the carpark refresh in early 2024, in preparation for a new visual.
We took these brightly coloured boards along to the Medina Festival, and enjoyed talking to the community, hearing your thoughts and aspirations for this artwork. If you didn't get a chance to take part, you can have your say in the 2 minute survey here.
Thank you!
