The City of Kwinana has received a development application to expand the Extractive Industry (sand mining) at the above address.
The proposal involves sand mining on the western portion of Lot 615 Mandogalup Road, as well as sand extraction activities and the construction of batters beneath the Western Power transmission towers. This Western Power corridor includes Lots 3, 53, 54, 8008, and 9013, though the proposed sand mining and batter construction will be limited to Lot 3 and part of Lot 53.
The intent of the proposed sand mining activities is to provide a much-needed raw material resource to support the building industry in the City of Kwinana and the greater southern Perth area. This site contains fine to medium-grained Tamala Limestone sand, which is in high demand.
