At the City of Kwinana, we believe that the health and well-being of our community is paramount. Health is influenced by the interconnectedness of our social, cultural, economic, and built and natural environments. It is in these environments, and in partnership with the community and other agencies that we can build and maintain outcomes of positive health and wellbeing.

What we have done so far:

In 2019, we started out by crunching some numbers about the current health and well-being of Kwinana, and with our partners developed a Health and Wellbeing Profile for the City.

Here is a snapshot of what we found:

We then consulted with City staff, Elected Members, key stakeholders, and members of our community. They all helped identify key public health risks, priorities that could be addressed in the new Public Health Plan, and things that the City could do to improve health and wellbeing.

As a result of this analysis and consultation, we identified the following key action areas:

All of these have been highlighted in our Public Health Plan 2019-2023, which is a strategic document to guide its health and well-being related advancements.

What's happening now:

The City is presently delivering a range of Healthy Lifestyle initiatives, with a focus on offering free physical activity programs for the Kwinana community. Some examples include:

1. Outdoor Fitness for over 50's

2. Community Yoga

4. Dance-based Fitness

5. Kwinana Mums Who Move

6. Promoting walking, cycling, and scooting.

This new Plan will replace the previous Public Health Plan and promote community health and wellbeing. Health promotion refers to empowering people to improve, or be in better control of their health. The new Plan will allow the City to comply with the requirements of the Public Health Act 2016, mandating all local governments in WA to have a local plan that outlines strategies to improve health and wellbeing in that community.

Through this survey, we hope to better understand the community’s health concerns and how we can help support the Kwinana community to be heathier.

This survey should only take five minutes of your time.

It is optional for you to provide your contact details at the end - This information will only be used to enter you in the prize draw.
