Consultation has concluded

Local Planning Policy No.2: Streetscapes (LPP2) was adopted by Council in March 2017. LPP2 seeks to enhance streetscapes and encourage higher quality neighbourhood amenity through the provision of street trees and better built form outcomes.

In order to measure the success and effectiveness of LPP2 since its adoption in 2017, City Officers have undertaken a review of the policy. The draft (Amended) Local Planning Policy can be found under the 'Documents' section of this page.

The key changes to this policy are listed below:

  • Additional provisions are proposed in relation to the setback of crossovers to street trees and permitted variations to open space requirements for residential development (See sections 4.1 & 4.2).
  • Additional provisions are proposed in relation to the design of intersections to reinforce the design requirements of roads as outlined in Liveable Neighbourhoods (See sections 4.3 & 4.4).
  • Additional provisions are proposed in relation to the design of fencing on secondary street boundaries (See section 4.7).
  • To provide greater clarity and consistency, several model provisions in relation to dwelling façade treatments have been modified (See section 4.6.1: Dwelling Façade Treatment).
  • The options available to developers regarding the planting of street trees (See section 5.3) have been revised and simplified.
