7DM - evaluation and results

In total, at least 177 volunteers participated in the makeover, many of whom attended multiple, if not all 7 days, resulting in 441 volunteer days, valued at approximately $162,323 in volunteer benefit. Volunteers worked long into the night to ensure everything was completed in time for the big reveal on Saturday. More than 120 participants returned to celebrate their achievements at the Launch Party.

While the 7DM was a revitalisation project, the most positive outcomes included developing new and existing relationships and connections. Working together side-by-side in pursuit of a shared goal significantly strengthened numerous relationships including that between the City and community, the City and other organisations, and between departments internally.

Following the 7DM, the Wellard community was invited to complete a survey regarding their experience:

90% said they would participate in an activity like this again
87% said it made them feel proud of their local area
90% said it made them feel proud of what they achieved
87% said it made them feel welcome and included
83% said it helped them feel a part of their community.
