City of Kwinana staff workshop with David Engwicht
City of Kwinana Staff will have an opportunity to learn in-person from David Engwicht, one of the world’s best and most innovative placemaking practitioners. David has over 30 years’ experience in this area, his books are used as university texts, he’s presented at TEDx, is highly regarded by the Project for Public Spaces (the world’s peak placemaking organisation), and more recently developed the 7 Day Makeover (some really incredible community-led placemaking projects I highly recommend you check out).
He’s entertaining, challenging, and inspiring.
We’ll be running this workshop in two parts: a lunchtime learning (this session), followed immediately after by a deeper dive.

Youth Information Session
The City hosted a Youth Information Session with David Engwicht for the upcoming 7 Day Makeover in Wellard Village. The session was open to young people aged 14 - 24 and was attended by several members of the Kwinana Youth Advisory Council.
Participants looked at the current strengths and weaknesses along The Strand and surrounds, and compiled a wish list for the area.

Community Information Night
On Tuesday 28 February the City hosted a Community Information Night at the Wellard Community Centre. The night focused on how the 7 Day Makeover will work, and how everyone can be involved.
David Engwicht shared inspirational stories of what other towns, like Wellard Village have achieved. There was also plenty of time for questions about this exciting opportunity.
Business Breakfast
In March, the City of Kwinana invited local businesses to breakfast at The Well Tavern.
Guest speaker and 7 Day Makeover leader, David Engwicht, shared his nine secrets to boost your business and your entire shopping area. Attendees got the inside scoop on the 7 Day Makeover and how this exciting project will make Wellard Village even more attractive to visit.
