    Hi Naomi,

Thank you for your question regarding to the waste service changes, and apologies for a delayed reply.

The introduction of the GO bin is part of the WA Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Strategy 2030, which requires councils to reduce waste sent to Energy Recovery, and improve recycling and organics recovery. Because of this, the City must transition to the Three Bin System, as keeping the current system is not an option.

Regarding the waste service charge, the $33 annual levy is in place for three years only to cover the rollout costs and will be removed in 2027/28. For 2024/25, residents will pay $7 for the organics service itself. Even with this increase, Kwinana continues to have the lowest waste service charge in the region compared to surrounding councils.

Additionally, from July 2025, the City is not taking away verge collections but instead moving to a pre-booked system, giving residents more flexibility to choose the services they need. More details on this can be found at: Pre-Booked Verge Collections.

If you’d like more information on how the City selected this system, you can view the Three Bin Feasibility Assessment here: Three Bin Feasibility Assessment

We appreciate your feedback and understand that changes like this take time to adjust to. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out to us again or we can call you to discuss.

    Kind regards,

    Keri

    Hi Jayce,

    Thank you for your enquiry.

The City's Three Bin Rollout will commence late April 2025. Once the City knows when specific suburbs will receive their bins, we will communicate this through our website and socials.

Please let me know if you require further information or would like me to call and discuss.

    Hi Sarah,

Apologies for the late reply, we are just returning from our Christmas shut down period.

Opting in to the Three Bin system will be available a month before the rollout (March 2025). Once these requests become available, we will advertise it through Love My Kwinana and our socials.

Please let me know if you require further information.

    Kind regards,

    Hi,

Thank you for contacting the City about when you will receive the new bins for our upcoming Three Bin GO Rollout.

The City's contractors will be commencing the rollout in May 2025, and is expected to take six weeks to complete. Once we have the rollout plan we will communicate the ETA of the new bins for each suburb.

Please let me know if need any further information.

    Kind regards,

    Keri
