Phase 2: Draft Concept Design
The feedback received from Phase 1 inspired the concept design which is currently available to view at the Bertram Community Centre (9.00am-12noon, Monday - Saturday) or which can be downloaded from the document section of this page.
Phase 1 and an assessment inspection revealed the existing play equipment was safe, functional and utilised on a daily basis and is not scheduled for replacement until 2025. The savings from retaining the existing play equipment has allowed additional requested equipment to be added to the draft concept design.
A pop up park event was held at Ascot Park, Saturday 28 November, for community members to view the draft concept design and provide an opportunity to discuss, ask questions, prioritise and put forward anything that may have been missed.
The City's officers visited Bertram Primary School in November to share the draft concept design with the Year 6 class and to hear the children's thoughts, ideas and gaps in the design. The draft concept design was viewed positively by the class with the following ideas suggested to be added:
- Netball hoop added to the half court area
- Skateboard/scooter elements - the class also asked to review the detailed design before it was finalised for construction.
