Thank you for your participation and what you told us
Earlier in the year you spent some time providing us with your online and onsite feedback about Sandringham Park.
Your feedback will improve how we deliver this project to make sure it is in line with community expectation.
The things that you told us that were important to you were:
- Play Equipment - install equipment for the 3 age groups (U 5's, 6 -12, 13 - 18 years). Include nature & sand play, monkey bars or climbing frames, rockers, big slide
- Basketball Half Court - like the one at Ascot Park
- Skating Elements - like the one at Ascot Park
- Bike/Scooter Elements - Rainbow tunnel (to ride through), Stop and Give Way signs, Race Track, Pit Stop, Bike Toolkit Station
- Swings - Toddler and Mother & Baby Swing
- Fitness Equipment - on the path from the Kwinana Train Station to the park
- Picnic Area - Shelter over a picnic table, long picnic table (not metal)
- Open Space - leave an area to kick the footy, soccer ball (where the rockers are at the moment)
- Toilets
- 3 Phase Power for events
- Signs - New naming sign for the park, interpretive art on the footpath, distance markers, ETA's, map of park and links to nearby parks
- Drink Fountain - existing one needs some love and add a dog water bowl
- Broken lights - these will be replaced with proper lights as part of the upgrade
Other things that came up:
- Flame Trees - why are they dying and how will we save the Flame Trees that are left. In response to this question our City Tree Officer, in our Parks Operations Team, has checked the trees and a new schedule made for them. The trees have been given nutrients, had the surrounding soil PH adjusted and will have the dead wood cut out of them once they are out of their dormant stage. They will be closely monitored to ensure they are recovering. If you have any further concerns, please let Jenny know and she will pass this on to our Parks Team
- Pavers - need levelling. City operations will put this in their maintenance schedule
- Bollards - repair the bollards and fence at the top steps (Dunrobin end)
- Limestone Piers - repoint
- Retic Box - This has been disconnected as this in a space for natives and they are now established. The City's Parks Team are checking on the Retic Box and updating me on its use as it had been vandalised in the past.
- Seat - the stop/rest seat was taken out from the Dunrobin entrance of the park years ago. Could we have it replaced
What Now:
We are drawing up the concept plan for the park and hope to have this to you by early December. As we said during the engagement, we do have budget constraints, so the request for the toilets is not possible. The amount for a toilet block far exceeds the actual budget that we have for the project.
Please 'follow' this project on Love My Kwinana to receive automatic updates.
