Hi, will there be a Basketball court?

    Sheila asked 1 day ago

    Good Morning Sheila

Thank you for your enquiry regarding the inclusion of a basketball court in the new building project. I appreciate your interest and am happy to provide some clarification.

The new building is a community and sporting pavilion designed to serve as a versatile space for community events, workshops, meetings, and gatherings. On the sporting side, the pavilion includes a clubhouse with changerooms, a first aid room, and a kiosk that clubs can operate to offer food and drink options. These facilities are intended to support the sports played on the adjacent oval.

Currently, the oval is set up for AFL and cricket. However, we are open to considering other turf-based sports in the future. This will be guided by feedback from the community survey and expressions of interest from local sports clubs.

While there are no plans to include a basketball court as part of this project, we value all suggestions and encourage you to participate in the community survey to share your ideas for future developments.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or require additional information.

    Kind Regards,
    Adam

Hello, will There be a gym and Cafe here?

Michelle stewart asked 10 days ago

    Thank you for the question.

There is no Cafe or gym at the Wellard West Community Facility. The Facility will have a large Community Hall with a large Kitchen for events. There is also a sports pavilion with a kisok. Typically the sports clubs will run the kiosk and sell hot food and drinks.

    Kind Regards

    Hi Rachele,

Thank you for your enquiry regarding the timing of the construction start and the current engagement period on Love My Kwinana. We appreciate your interest in ensuring that community input is considered.

The construction start date of 24 March refers to the physical building phase, which follows earlier engagement processes conducted in 2017. At that time, the type of building was determined through community feedback.

The current engagement period, which runs until 6 April, focuses on a different aspect: identifying the types of users and groups the community would like to see utilising the community hall and oval. This includes community groups and sporting organisations. The input collected during this period will be compiled into a report of findings that will be shared with community organisations, sporting groups, and state sporting bodies. This will help inform how these spaces are used and allocated in the future.

Whilst the physical construction will begin before the engagement period ends, the current feedback will be crucial for shaping the operational and programming aspects of the facility. Your input will contribute to ensuring that the community's needs and preferences are reflected in the final usage plans.

Thank you for participating in this process.

    Kind Regards

    Adam

    Hi Rachele,

Thank you for reaching out to us through Love My Kwinana regarding the parking challenges at Wellard Primary School. We understand the current difficulties and are working on solutions to improve the situation.

In the short term, the City encourages parents and students to consider walking or riding to school, which not only helps reduce congestion but also promotes a healthier lifestyle. The school currently has multiple car parks and designated kiss-and-drop locations available for use.

Regarding the dirt area that has been informally used for parking, it is being developed into a car park for the pavilion. Once completed, this new car park will provide additional space for school pick-up and drop-off, helping to alleviate some of the current parking pressures.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work towards enhancing the parking facilities at Wellard Primary School.

    Thank you for your feedback.

    Kind Regards

    Adam
